Nobuhiko Murayama

Based in Berlin, the artist works across painting, photography, and photographic printing processes. Through materials such as pigments, mesh, gelatin, and graphite, the practice explores the conditions of perception shaped by light, temperature, and time.

The work is concerned with the event in which images come into appearance within the relations between material, environment, and the body. By arranging the conditions through which such appearances may occur, the practice investigates how the experience of seeing takes form.

Through the phenomena that arise between tactility and vision, and between material and image, the works open onto a field in which perception comes into appearance.
